2012-2013 tuition fees determined

The statutory tuition fee for the 2012-2013 academic year for full-time study programmes has been set at € 1,771 per annum; the tuition fee for part-time study programmes has been set at € 1,595.

The institutional tuition fee rates for the 2012-2013 academic year have not changed, with the exception of the fees for the Tinbergen Institute and Amsterdam University College (the institutional fee for AUC has also been increased).

The institutional tuition fee rate for the Master’s programme at the Tinbergen Graduate School has been brought in line with the other Master’s programmes offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business, thus € 12,000.

The institutional tuition fee rate for the AUC is € 11,491; the institutional fee is € 2,130.

The statutory tuition fee is set each year by the Dutch government. Institutional tuition fee rates are set by the higher education institutions individually and apply for students who do not satisfy the conditions for the statutory tuition fee.

Second Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at the UvA

The Executive Board of the UvA has furthermore decided to extend the pilot scheme laid down in the 2011-2012 Enrolment Provisions (Article 19) by one year.

Penalty for students who study for longer than the set period

As from the 2012-2013 academic year, a penalty for students who study for longer than the set period will be introduced.

Municipal register requirement

As from the 2012-2013 academic year, the UvA must observe the municipal personal records database (GBA) requirement. This means that all students who are eligible for the statutory tuition fee must be and remain registered in the GBA, also if they spend a period abroad for the purpose of their study programme.

Dutch study grant system

Non-EU/EEA students who are eligible for a Dutch study grant (studiefinanciering) pay the same fee as EU/EEA students. Visit www.duo.nl for more information and to find out whether this applies to you.

Non-regular government-funded programmes

The UvA also offers a number of other programmes such as Advanced Master's and Executive Master's. These programmes are not government-funded and therefore charge a higher tuition fee. Please consult the specific programme's web pages for details on these fees.

Additional costs

Apart from the tuition fee, there are costs for books and other study materials. These costs vary per study programme between approximately €200 and €800 per year.

Some programmes also charge an application fee, which is usually around €100. This is often refundable upon acceptance.
